In 1996, Virtuella made her first public appearance at the Alabama Cinema, Hamburg.

Before that I hesitated a little bit: Wouldn't the audience be confused, seeing a drag queen presenting some computer animations and talking about the digital future? But it simply felt good for me - and so it did for the audience, too.

Birgit Wudtke took these pictures in 1999.

I manipulated the left picture to underscore Birgit's idea that the freezing lake (brrr...) was looking like a computer screen.

Another interesting experience during this time was modeling for painters.

The left one was done by Monika at the "Comic Salon", May 1997 in Hamburg. She was a barkeeper at the independent artists' closing party and draw the picture quickly between serving drinks.

The right one is from an oil painting by Gustav. In the complete picture he assembled several persons, while only working with one at a time.
